Mary Kelly Montalto, "Kelly", passed away under hospice care on November 28, 2016. She was 50 years old. She was surrounded by her family and friends, and the many well wishes of those she had touched over the years. Kelly was born in Mobile, Alabama, living most of her life in Tampa, FL. She was a graduate of Chamberlain High School, and received her Bachelors and Master's Degree at the University of South Florida.
Kelly was a Professor of Economics, teaching for over 16 years in local Tampa Bay institutions including Hillsborough Community College, St. Leo University, and Eckerd College. Kelly's selfless and warm personality, humorous takes on current events, and genuine concern for her students made her a favorite to many.
Kelly was loved by all, especially Marc her husband of 19 years. She had an amazing way of connecting and leaving a favorable impression on others. It was her loving spirit and kind acts that came through in everything she did.
She is survived by her husband, sister Missi McCombs; nephew Griffin McCombs; mother Elizabeth Joyner; and many friends spread out around the world.
The celebration of Kelly's life will be held at Brewer and Sons Funeral Home, 3328 S Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL, on Saturday December 10th at 10:00 AM. The family requests that those attending the service wear any shade of blue, which was Kelly's favorite color, rather than black.
